A BEGINNER'S VIDEO GUIDE TO FREESTYLE FOOTBAG
This is a practical guide to the art of freestyle footbag. For more information on "adds", and specific elements of tricks, etc, please see the F.A.Q., via the link located at the top right, above this mini window. This is a great place to start if you are interested in picking up the sport, or if you already have and are at a beginner level, wherein you are wondering which tricks to try next. Start at the beginning. As boring as the basics may seem, they are integral to the proper development of the basic skills in this sport. The biggest tip that any footbag player will ever share with you is this: DO EVERY SINGLE TRICK EVENLY ON BOTH SIDES. It cannot be said more concisely. This is simply, the most important thing that you will learn in freestyle footbag. Start bothsided now; if you do not, you will regret it down the road, I guarantee it. It can never be reiterated enough: DO EVERY SINGLE TRICK EVENLY ON BOTH SIDES.

WHAT COMES NEXT?
After you have mastered all or some of these basic tricks, you may be ready for freestyle. Freestyle is just what it sounds like, performing tricks and links of your choosing, in whatever order, and in whatever style you wish! Freestyle is like improv; you decide which tricks to do when and how. This is where your game will take off, where the sport begins to get addictive and unrelentingly fun!
Below are some prepared examples of freestyle with some of the moves that have been performed above. Take these clips are merely examples of what is possible, and what you will be capable of creating.

AND THEN?
Once you are completely comfortable with these basic kicks, stalls, and 2 add tricks, and are able to compose 10-20 move combinations, with them, then you may be ready to move on to more difficult, and more fun tricks. The next step in freestyle -- before you are competent to completely freestyle at the level at which we play in our shred videos -- is the "advanced basics", which are referred to as the "BOPs" (which stands for the names of these three basic tricks, Butterfly, Osis, and Paradox mirage.) These are more advanced tricks, and videos can be found in the moves section, under "3 adds" (in alphabetical order). My suggestion is slowly integrate these 3 tricks into your 2-add-repetoire. Once they become more comfortable, here are a couple more examples (in one video) of freestyle drills that you can compose to familiarize yourself with the tricks. Remember be creative. After this point, you're on your own. Watch and learn from the hundreds of move videos in the moves section, yet do not be limited by them -- be inventive! And most importantly, have fun!!
